There are some rules you need to learn about naturist etiquette. When you go to a clothing-optional or nudist destination, whether it’s a beach, resort, or private home, there are general etiquette rules you need to understand and follow. Violating the rules and refusing to correct your behavior when asked can result in your reservation being canceled during your stay and no refunds or compensation will be given.

So we thought it would be a good idea to let you know by posting some tips on the rules you need to understand and follow, as well as if you have any questions about certain activities. They can be very helpful, especially for people who are new to nudist vacations.

#1 Find out what the nudist areas or spots are. Often, only certain areas of the property are reserved for nudism. Other areas or locations may require full or partial nakedness. Check with your hotelier or host at the latest upon arrival and/or check-in.

# 2 NaturistTravel.eu offers many accommodations where “clothing is optional”. Find out if your location is clothing optional or only naturist? This means that you can wear a little clothing if you prefer. On the other hand, some of them may practice a strict “naked only” rule.

In both cases, clothing is allowed when it is cold or to protect your body. However, underwear is not considered appropriate clothing. What areas or locations are clothing optional or naked?

# 3 Always carry a towel with you wherever you go. It should be used under you wherever you decide to sit or lie down. Always use it by placing a towel under you!

# 4 When using a pool, sauna or jacuzzi, keep in mind that other guests or hosts have used them before you, so be sure to shower before you enter. This is mainly because you help keep the water cleaner, longer, and simply make others feel more comfortable using the same amenities after or with you.

# 5 If you are a smoker, find out where smoking is allowed and if so, where are the areas and places for it? In any case, there are non-smokers around you and be considerate of them!

# 6 Find out what the food is like, where are the places for it. If you are in a private home, are there specific places for it or is it possible everywhere. Is there a certain dress code or other requirements during meals?

# 7 Find out what the cleaning procedures are, what the hotel or home you are staying in provides? Where should the trash be disposed of if this is your commitment during a longer stay? Do they have to clean the dishes, utensils, and glasses?

# 8 Find out where the laundry is located or can they use a laundry service? Is there a fee and what is it?

# 9 Are visitors or additional guests allowed, are there any age restrictions or how many can they be? What are the approval procedures, if any?

# 10 Find out if parties or gatherings with other guests are allowed? What is the maximum size? Are approvals and permits required or do you need to book in advance?

# 11 Find out when the quiet hours are, this is a time for rest and relaxation. Think about your neighbors and be considerate of them so that they do too!

# 12 Find out if there are any designated places or areas that you can visit outside the boundaries of your accommodation. Where can guests go and where can’t? Are there any possible sanctions and what are they?

# 13 If you have a pet, then before booking, be sure to find out if the accommodation allows pets and if so, are there any weight restrictions for them. If the hotel or tourist complex has a beach, is it pet-friendly or has a designated area for them.

# 14 Using a camera or still camera is generally not allowed around naked people. Some people may not want to be in your photo album completely naked. If you are going to capture a great moment, it is mandatory to ask each or everyone in the frame for their permission to take the picture.

# 15 When interacting and talking to people who are also naked, it is very rude not to make eye contact. In the naturist community, this is considered even ruder. Maintain eye contact while talking to naked colleagues.

# 16 No looking at people, no staring at them. A nudist environment should be a safe, not a sexual space. The whole point of being naked in a safe environment is to be comfortable in your natural skin. So please, no staring or looking at yourself or you will be considered a pervert.

# 17 Absolutely no sexual behavior when in a nudist setting, be it a hotel, campsite, beach or private home. Never show your sexual activity in a nudist public. Be reserved and use common sense. Of course you can hold hands and kiss if you want. Your passionate touching and kissing in a public place can make others feel uncomfortable. Use common sense and leave sexual acts to the privacy of your room where you will be discreet and unnoticed.

#18 Even if you are new to naturism and nudism, getting an erection or arousal in such a place is actually very unusual. But if it does happen, just cover it up, you always have your towel with you, remember? If you are lying in the sun, turning around will be enough.

If you see someone deliberately showing their erection, let the receptionist or the host know about it. They know how to handle it and make sure it doesn't happen again.
