Guernsey was the location for the first Channel Islands’ event for the Great British Skinny Dip (GBSD) and was a terrific success.

Fifty dippers, mostly women, enjoyed an exhilarating time at L’Ancresse Bay, raising £5,000 in the process – and are now eagerly exploring the possibility of a monthly nude swim on the island.

Money was raised for two local charities – Pink Ladies (Breast Cancer) and Mug (Testicular Cancer) as well as the GBSD’s British Heart Foundation.

Interest in the dip was immediate when announced with a Facebook page attracting 150 people, and local papers reporting the event on this popular beach. On the day, the dip was counted down by local radio presenter Oscar Pearson and filmed by the local BBC TV news crew.

The Great British Skinny Dip has promoted and encouraged attitudes to Naturism to change in Guernsey. Look out for a fuller report in the Winter issue of British Naturism magazine.
